How to use the spot healing tool to edit your photos in Photoshop

Have a blemish you’d love to delete or a photo that would be perfect if only you could remove one little detail? Then the spot healing is here to fix your worries.

Step One

Firstly, open up Photoshop and the photo you want to edit.
I’ve picked this nice landscape scene that would has a perfect sky apart from one lonesome cloud.

Click on the spot healing brush tool and adjust the size of the brush using the tool bar that appears at the top of the page.

Go to the part of your photo you would like to remove and click and drag your cursor around the area until it’s completely covered in black. When you let go the blacked out area will try to match the area around it.

A great blemish free photo! Perfect.

If it doesn’t look right first time round this may be because the area around it isn’t very clear and so a blurred replication appears. If this happens don’t panic! Simply press command (cmd) and Z at the same time on your keyboard and the last thing you did will be removed. Keep trying until you get the desired outcome you’re after.
